Make your own festival
Posted by jill on July 5, 2009Thanks to the line up for Glastonbury (partly), I had all the joys of watching two of the three headliners, and plenty of other bands who didn’t make it over to Somerset. As an added bonus, I returned to my own bed each night and could wake up fresh and clean the following day.
In the space of nine days I saw the following:
- Italo Disco act Heartbreak-
- Pagan Wanderer Lu and A Scholar and A Physician at
-Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band play non-stop for 3 hours, after their 2 1/2 hour set at Glastonbury the night before
- Piney Gir and the Age of Reason
- Foals warm up for their big show at
- Blur in Hyde Park
- And rounding off the week by watching 10 minutes of Young Athlete League in a launderette in East London.
Of all these shows, Blur was the biggest indie disco ever, two hours of hits and non-stop singalong, Bruce Springsteen was great, just to admire his stamina and the last hour of hits. The smaller shows in between was a great contrast to the beer throwing, picnicking of the Hyde Park shows.
All I need now is a week of lying down…
