Songs of the Summer

Posted by jill on August 28, 2007

It’s the end of August, so it’s time for a quick note about music that has summed up my summer.

Simply, this summer was all about two French duos, Daft Punk and Justice.
Daft Punk needs no explanation. I even stayed out in Seattle for an extra day to allow time to recover from their show. Ever since that night, Discovery has been replayed at least once each week. Since buying the Justice album in Hong Kong, that has been my goto album when I can’t decide what to listen to. On top of that, as various remixes of D.A.N.C.E were played out in the SebastiAn and Kavinsky dj sets before Daft Punk and at the aftershow, that album will forever remind me of this summer.

Things are changing

Posted by jill on August 28, 2007

Well, I’m back from my trip away. It’s very strange to be back home, and having to adjust to not sightseeing everyday. The other reason why it’s odd to be back home is that I know that I’ll be leaving home soon, in fact leaving Oxford. As a result this website will also be changing.

With a full time, proper career-type job, I won’t have as much time to take pictures (well I don’t really want to compete with everyone who takes cameras to gigs anymore) or to review things, so I’ve decided to stop maintaining this site. Instead, coming soon will be a blog, so I can still write about the gigs I’ve seen and the music I’ve heard. Coming soon will be a short summary of the best music I heard while on my trip.
